About The Crucible
Pull Up a Chair. Shuffle Up. Play.
Hey there, I'm Your Host, Jacob
I started The Commander Crucible because I wanted a regular place to play Commander with good people in a relaxed setting. No drama, no ultra-competitive grinding (unless a pod wants to throw down some cEDH), just friendly games at the kitchen table.
We typically play at my house, usually on weekends. It's casual, it's laid-back, and the most important rule is don't be that guy. Bring any deck you enjoy playing, not just the one that wins fastest.
Whether you've been playing since Alpha or you just picked up your first precon, you're welcome here. We've got folks at all skill levels and we're happy to help newer players learn the ropes.
What We're About
Good Company
The people matter more than the games. We're here to hang out, not just to play.
Open Communication
We talk about power levels and expectations before every game. No surprises.
Everyone's Welcome

Common Questions
Do I need to bring my own deck? ▼
Nope! We have a few loaner decks you can use. Just let us know ahead of time in Discord and we'll have one ready for you.
Are proxies okay? ▼
Totally fine! We think everyone should be able to play the deck they want. As long as we can tell what the card is, it's good.
What brackets do you play? ▼
We use the official Commander brackets system. Most games are Bracket 3 (upgraded), but we're happy to play any bracket if the pod agrees. We always chat about brackets before shuffling up so everyone's in a good match.
Is there a cost to join? ▼
Nope, it's free! We play at my house, so there's no venue fee or anything like that. Just bring yourself and a good attitude.
